While general medical devices already have special requirements, additional requirements apply to manufacturing and quality assurance.
Only companies that are properly certified in accordance with European legislation are permitted to manufacture X-ray protective clothing for radiation users.
In addition, each individual model must undergo a type examination. This is a considerable effort, but it is entirely justified in terms of the health and lives of users.
MAVIG and its products give you the assurance that you are purchasing products that comply with all regulations and requirements.

MODEL HS100 – EFFECTIVE PROTECTION FOR YOUR HANDS

Efficient protection for your hands now enables optimisation of radiation protection measures for medical staff.
The development of these gloves has succeeded in combining traditionally conflicting characteristics:
- high shielding effect
- high elasticity
- high tactile sensitivity
- and protection against X-ray scatter radiation
Significantly reducing the equivalent dose for medical staff exposed to radiation in the course of their work is a must, and not only because of the reduced limits for effective dose.
The idea of optimising radiation protection dictates that every possible measure must be taken to minimise the dose from radiation exposure.
With its X-ray-absorbing, sterile HS100 gloves, MAVIG offers personal protective equipment in accordance with Directive 89/686/EEC, which focuses on protection against secondary X-ray radiation.
An efficient reduction in dose values in the area of scattered radiation exposure is guaranteed. The protection factor of 2 achieved when using the gloves in the scattered radiation area (X-ray tube voltage 60-80 kV) is remarkable. This dose reduction of > 50% effectively helps to minimise the risk.
Excellent performance characteristics and an optimised fit now make it easy to protect yourself better with confidence.

CURRENTLY UNDER DISCUSSION
Working in interventional radiology can involve risks. The probability of medical personnel exposed to radiation developing brain tumours is currently the subject of lively debate among experts. Without effective on-site table-top scatter radiation protection, the skull is exposed to high levels of radiation, depending on the procedure and fluoroscopy time.
THE TASK
In order to best meet occupational health and safety requirements, user-specific protective equipment for the skull must be carefully designed. Wearing the usual X-ray protective clothing already places a physical strain on users. In addition, the skull must now be protected with head shielding. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be expanded to include a component that ensures a perfect balance between radiation protection, weight and comfort.
THE SOLUTION
MAVIG has therefore developed three different radiation protection headgear designs to meet the individual needs of users. The respective models differ in terms of the desired protection area and heat dissipation. The design-protected, universal-size cuts of the headgear allow for optimal adjustment to the respective head circumference and shape. The wide range of models on offer is the best way to meet requirements for temperature regulation and wearing comfort.
RA611
The RA611 radiation protection hood provides protection at the front and sides, as well as 2/3 of the top of the hood. A breathable insert is integrated in the middle of the top of the hood, which ensures excellent heat dissipation.

RA612
This closed radiation protection hood shields the skull from the front, sides and completely from above. However, heat dissipation via the skull cap is restricted.
